First use of an IWB

I used an IWB for the first time yesterday. (Isn’t that odd? This is my second year of teaching and it was the first time I used one).
We’ve just started looking at Gamelan music (from Indonesia) with Year 7 and the sounds and instruments are completely alien to them (espeically for a bunch of kids whose sole experience of music revolves around Hip Hop and RnB). Last year it took a couple of lessons before some of the kids were able to listen to the music without saying it was rubbish. This year I actually made a Keynote presentation complete with LOADS of pictures and audio clips to set the scene and give a gentle introduction to the sounds and instruments used. And the kids were so responsive, asking loads of questions – some of them very random but nonetheless.
Keynote is actually easier to use than Powerpoint. Especially adding audio clips. I was seriously impressed. Just need to try adding video next. Might leave that for a little while…. too much too soon.
