Why not do a lesson on how you would mark a listening task. The ask them to grade themselves on listening when they see the video. It might prove hilarious but might also get the message across. I promise yu that students do get better when videoing becomes a common part of their experience. Possibly recording a more active task might mean that they can be involved in the assessment of the work as was evident with your other group.

Have you tried having the camera ready in a number of lessons, walking up to it but not using it and leaving it for long periods of time might familiarise them to the kit and then when you do use it they probably won't notice it. Worth a try anyway. It will get easier.....

At the moment my research question..... is something along the lines of
How can the use of blended media promote and develop critical listening (and anaylsis) in Key Stage 3 music?

What do you think? Feel free to say it's rubbish!

Have you come up with your research question? Could you get the pupils to make up a series of "How to ..." videos? Or a blog where you post links to different types of music, and pupils have to comment on their reactions to them?

Claire, do you teach on Friday P6? If not, would you like to help out with an ICT type project? If you do, do you think your computer might like to help out?! (See my blog for more details ... )

Claire this sound great. Leave the video on your mac and I will help you sort them out on Tuesday. I would like to talk to you about using Blogs to get the students to review the movie(s) as well. By the way I have downloaded the Discovering Music Podcasts and I will bring then along with me on Tuesday too.
